Class 52(ii) A bed-settee of the kind comprising two pivoted mattresses one of which is provided at each end with a fixed panel the panels serving as arm rests in the settee position and as head and foot boards in the bed position is provided with a further panel g pivoted to each fixed panel f to support the mattress b in the settee position when the pivoted panel g is turned inwards but to be arranged in alignment with the fixed panel f in the bed position. The mattress b is supported in its back rest position by the point l of the panel g near its hinge h so that no bolt or other fastening is needed. The pivoted mattresses a, b are provided with further mattresses or cushions o, p and to hide the front of the mattresses in settee position the cover of the mattress b is prolonged and stitched to. the mattress p, a valance covering the front of the mattresses being stitched to such cover. The hinge connecting mattresses a, b may comprise a straight hinge plate and an angled one so that such spacing between the mattresses when in bed position and such height of the back rest may be obtained as is desired.
