A branch pipe 4 is connected to a main 5 by means of a two-part clamp 6. 7 embracing the main, the part 7 having an internally screwthreaded socket 9 to receive the branch, and a gland-nut 12, surrounding and separate from the branch, adapted to screw into the socket to compress packing 11 against the branch and main and into a recess 10 in the base of the socket.
