Abstract
696,873. Soldering. FRANCESCHINI, E. March 10, 1952 [March 19, 1951], No. 6174/52. Class 83 (iv). A soldering tool is in the form of pliers each jaw carrying an electrode and one of the electrodes comprising the soldering metal. The pliers comprise levers A and B pivoted at 1 and urged apart by a spring 2. The handle portions of the levers are covered with an insulating material and the other ends are forked to receive electrodes. To the forked end of lever A is secured a holder 9 in which is clamped a carbon electrode 11. To the lever B is detachably secured a casing comprising side plates 25 and a spacing member 26 bolted together at 27 and a U-shaped cover strip 28 secured to the lower part of the casing by eyes 29 and a bolt 30 and held in closed position by a rolled end 31 engaging a groove in the member 26. Within the casing is a bobbin 39 of fluxcored solder, the end of which passes through a slot in the member 26 and through a nozzle 44 and forms one electrode. On closing the pliers on the work a, b, the solder is fed forward by a toothed wheel 46 rotated by a ratchet 47 engaged by a pawl 48 on a lever 49 coupled by a link 51 to the lever A of the pliers. The electrode 11 and the solder are connected to a source of power by insulated conductors passing through the handles of the pliers.
