Abstract

696,803. Valves. DEWRANCE & CO., Ltd. Jan. 8, 1952 [Jan. 8, 1951], No. 557/52. Class 135 A stop valve comprises a spindle 6, Fig. 1, with a head 6<SP>1</SP>, a bushing 7 slidable on the spindle and a valve head 8 screwed onto the bushing and locked thereto by a removable pin 10, Fig. 2, fitting in a bore 13 having registering parts in the head and bushing, the outer end of the bore being sealed by a metal plug 11, e.g., of weld metal, united with the metal of the valve head and separated from the pin by an insert 12, e.g., of copper. The bushing is formed with an enlargement 7<SP>1</SP> which coacts with the bore through the seat to throttle flow during initial opening and final closing movements of the head. The stem and head are inserted in the casing 1 through an opening closed by a cap 4 having a bayonet joint with the casing and seal welded after insertion. Specification 695,847 is referred to.
