Abstract
696,651. Motor-cycle frames. NSU WERKE AKT.-GES. Dec. 6, 1950 [Aug. 24, 1949], No. 29907/50. Class 136 (iii) A motor-cycle frame consists of two halves 1, 2 butt welded together, one portion of the frame edges forming a close joint, whilst the other frame edges leave an open space, the fixing places 5, 6, for parts such as the tank and saddle support being provided in the zone 8 of the frame which is relatively free from stress when the frame as a whole is subjected to bending stresses, whereas the fixing places 9, 10 for the support 4 of the rear wheel springing and the saddle spring 11, which are near the open part of the frame, are situated in the vicinity of the welding seams. Stiffening ribs 14, 15 are provided along the central zone 8.
