847,056. Motor vehicle frames. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. Aug. 15, 1958 [Aug. 28, 1957], No.26369/58. Class 79(4). A chassis frame for a motor vehicle comprises cross members 3, Fig. 1, having closed cross-sections, e.g. tubes or box members, and longitudinal members 7 provided with neck portions 4 having cross-sections corresponding to those of the cross members, into which the cross members are fitted and joined by welds 6 and 7. The cross members may meet the longitudinal ones at an angle. The necked out portions 4 may be provided in a plate 10, Fig. 4, welded to the longitudinal members. In one construction reinforcing elements are fitted within and welded to the longitudinal members.
