696,184. Pylons. L'ALUMINIUM FRANCAIS. Dec. 20, 1951 [Dec. 22, 1950], No. 29913/51. Class 20(i) A pylon for carrying electric cables comprises a trestle supported by a number of posts arranged in pairs, each pair being in the form of an inverted V, the planes of the pairs being substantially parallel to. one another and to the electric cables, each of the posts being tapered towards its ends from a central portion of maximum cross-sectional area. In the form shown, the pylon consists of a trestle 10. from which the insulators carrying the electric cable are suspended and which is supported by two pairs of posts 1, each pair forming an inverted V as shown in Fig. 2, the corresponding posts of each. pair being cross-braced by cables 9. Each post is built up of five elements 3, 4 and 5 which are connected end-to-end by couplings 6, the elements being constructed of three steel or aluminium tubes 2 interconnected at intervals by cross-struts 7. At the ends of the posts, the tubes 2 are held in cast junction pieces provided with lugs which are' engaged by pivot pins holding the posts of each pair together at the top and to foundation bolts at the bottom.
