Abstract

1,269,324. Metal poles. ANDERSON ELECTRIC CORP. 30 Jan., 1970 [6 Feb., 1969], No. 4705/70. Heading E1B. A tubular tapering metal pole P for electrical transmission lines or floodlighting comprises a plurality of sections P1-P6 welded together end to end, each section comprising a pair of tapering side bars B1-B6 and a pair of webs W1-W6 having flanges overlapping the side bars and welded thereto. The general curve of the post section is a curve having a formula similar to that of an ellipse. Cross arms 3, 5, 7, 9 are secured to the post by various methods all of which include parallel plates across the inside of the tubular section to which the arms are cantilevered. The post is secured to a socket on a concrete base formed by curved webs of similar section to the post welded to flat end plates which have tie rods bolted thereto and embedded in the concrete. In a modification of the post section the angles K, L and M between the panels of the webs are all equal.
