A foundation for a column comprises a framework 10-14 having sockets 15 welded thereto for the reception of anchor pins 16 and a base assembly 17, 18, 19 having bolt openings 20 to locate the column. The framework may be made up from bars of anglesection, semi-circular or channel-shaped sections or from lengths of tubing of square or rectangular cross-section and the resulting framework may be of T- or H-shaped crosssection or closed, polygonal construction.
