696,082. Supply systems for space discharge apparatus. SOC. ANON. POUR LES APPLICATIONS DE L'ELECTRICITE ET DES GAZ RARES - ETABLISSEMENTS C.PAZ & SILVA. Dec. 5, 1950 [Dec. 20, 1949], No. 29744/50. Class 38 (iv). At least one group of at least two parallel connected metal filament incandescent lamps 17, 18, operating at their rated load, stabilize an electric discharge apparatus 1 serially connected therewith across a supply and having filamentary electrodes heated by the secondary windings of a transformer 9. The lamps 17, 18 are preferably krypton and/or xenon filled, and the discharge lamp 1 may have a starting facilitating auxiliary electrode comprising, e.g., a mainly graphite conducting strip connected through a resistor to one main electrode. Stroboscopic effect may be reduced by providing two further lamps 19, 22, respectively stabilized by a serially connected inductor 20 and condenser 21, and an inductor 23. In modifications the circuit may be supplied from a network through a transformer, or from primary or secondary cells through a vibrating interrupter; and each filament heating secondary winding may have its own magnetic circuit and primary winding. Suitable component values are given in the Specification. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 647,033.
