Abstract
695,907. Blasting fuzes. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 21, 1952 [April 30, 1951], No. 10072/51. Class 9(i) An electric blasting detonator comprises a copper alloy tube 1 containing a base charge 2 and a primary initiating charge 3 containing lead azide, the tube being closed by a neoprene plug 4 through which extend the lead wires 5, 5<SP>1</SP> of an electric fuzehead. The plug 4 is made with a longitudinal slit 10, as in Fig. 4, in which the leg wires with attached fuzehead are placed prior to placing the plug in the tube 1. The resiliency. of the plug causes it to close round the wires and the tube is secured to the plug by a crimp 8. The plugs 4 are formed from thick-walled tubing by slitting the tubing longitudinally to the bore and cutting it transversely into the required lengths. Pole pieces 7, 7<SP>1</SP> and the matchhead 6 are attached to the bared ends of the lead wires prior to assembly of the plug and fuzehead. Specification 636,792 is referred to.
