Abstract
695,415. Cores for dynamo-electric machines. METROFOLITAN-V1CKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. March 28, 1952 [May 18, 1951], No. 11686/51. Class 35. The stator of a dynamo-electric machine is supported in a frame 1 by flexible connector plates 4 joining core bars 3 and transverse stiffening plates 2, the intermediate portion 6 of the plates 4 being shaped to extend both tangentiaily to a circle centred on the core axis and parallel to the machine axis. As shown in Fig. 2A, the connector plates 4 are formed integrally with the stiffening plates 2 by cutting radial slots 5 and bending the intervening portions between the slots, the inner edges of the bent portion being welded to the core bars 3. In Fig. 3, the connector plates are indicated by the numeral 8 and they are separate from the plates 2, but they are stiffened by a back plate 10. Alternatively, the connector plates may be of U-shape cross-section as in Fig. 4 (not shown). The inner edges of the stiffening plates 2 may extend to within a short distance of the stator core surface as in Fig. 4 so as to form a partition to divide the machine into compartments where cooling air flows alternately radially inwards and outwards.
