Abstract

1,246,065. Electric rotary machines having stationary field and armature windings. SOC. ANON. POUR L'EQUIPEMENT ELECTRIQUE DES VEHICULES S.E.V. MARCHAL. 21 Oct., 1969 [31 Oct., 1968; 13 May, 1969; 16 May, 1969; 14 Aug., 1969], No. 51538/69. Heading H2A. In a rotary electric machine, e.g. a low power motor vehicle alternator, comprising a slotted stator 2 having a winding and a rotor 3 having mounted on the same spindle 4 a magnetic core 9 coaxially between two cheeks 6 each of which has at its periphery and parallel with the spindle castellations 7 separated by gaps 8 the castellations of one cheek facing the gaps of the other, a field winding 10 disposed around the core and between the cheeks is supported by a ease 11 which hooks on to the stator by elements occupying, and of less thickness than, the space between the two planes in which are the ends of the castellations of the two cheeks, the elements terminating in hooking members 14 which are slid into selected stator slots. In the embodiment shown the case 11 is a moulding, e.g. of plastics, with which are integral the elements in the form of radial projections 13 and the members 14, reinforced by ribs 15, the case having ventilating apertures 12, and the castellations and their gaps being trapezoidal. Figs. 4 to 36 disclose alternative winding case constructions and modes of securing their hooking members to the stator, and includes arrangements wherein the winding is divided into two series connected axially separated parts. The stator teeth 20a, Fig. 39, are preferably narrow at their roots.
