695,190. Lighting fittings. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Feb. 9, 1951 [Feb. 24, 1950], No. 23264/52. Divided out of 695,114.. Classes 75(ii) and 75(iv): In a lighting fitting a translucent cover 2 is releasably secured at its edge to a sup-. porting member such as a canopy 1 by a wire ring 7 which extends around the cover and has a part formed into a loop 7e, f, g upstanding from the plane of the ring and engaging notches 16a, 17a on the canopy, the loop being retractable from the notches by flexure of the ring. The cover is also hinged to the canopy so that on release of the loop the cover can be swung down. The notches 16a, 17a are formed on the upper ends of vertical ribs 16, 17 which are formed on the outside of a skirt 4 on the canopy and have inclined outer surfaces over which the horizontal part 7g of the loop rides when closing the cover. The loop is joined to the ring by horizontal parts 7c, d which extend through slots 14, 15 in the canopy skirt.
