694,601. Cylinder printing-presses. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.- GES. March 27, 1951 [May 17, 1950], No. 7084/51. Drawings to Specification. Class 100(ii) [Also in Group XXIV] A two-revolution high speed printing press has a driving means for the reciprocating type bed comprising a rack disposed centrally on the underside of the type bed and extending in the direction of reciprocation, said rack interengaging with a rack-engaging segment mounted on a transverse shaft, the shaft carrying also a first segment having cycloidal recesses at either end of its toothing, and interengaging alternatively with the toothing of oppositely driven second and third segments each carrying a roller which is received in one of said recesses when said second or third segments have each completed their drive of the first segment, for the purpose of retarding and accelerating the movement of the type bed, the second and third segments each being driven alternately in opposite directions through the driving shaft of the type bed. The apparatus is identical with that described in Specification 681,685.
