Abstract

694,578. Well casing. BOLTON, C. A. Sept. 7, 1951 [Sept. 19, 1950; Nov. 10, 1950], Nos. 22921/50 and 27489/50. Class 85 [Also in Groups I and XXVIII] A tubular casing or structure, particularly for use in wells, is built up of curved panels the radius of curvature and width of which is determined by the required - diameter of the casing, the panels being secured in circumferential arrangement, preferably by flanges b riveted, bolted or welded together, whilst the panels of the initial part of the casing are of different lengths so that the rest of the panels are in staggered disposition. Strengthening bars g may be positioned between adjacent flanges and secured to said flanges and have at intervals projecting therefrom centralizing plates h. The panels may be formed of expanded metal or have elongated hooded perforations formed therein and the casing may be internally reinforced by a helix of wire rod.
