Abstract

In a reinforced concrete pipe, or other concrete cylindrical structure, wherein the reinforcement consists of steel rods extending longitudinally of the cylinder casing and intersecting others which extend annularly of the casing, the longitudinal rods 1 are undulated in a direction radially of the cylindrical structure with the radial extent between the peaks of the undulations preferably approaching the thickness of the wall of the cylindrical structure and the annular rods 2 are disposed in, or on, the wave troughs of the longitudinal rods 1, preferably those located in the vicinity of the inner peripheral face of the cylindrical structure, where they intersect and are welded, or otherwise rigidly connected, to the longitudinal rods 1. The curvature of the inner troughs of the rods 1 is preferably greater than that of the outer troughs. The reinforcement can be preformed into one, or more, mats which is, or are, bent into cylindrical form, and additional straight rods may be located between the curved rods 1.
