Abstract

694,432. Batteries. WOLF SAFETY LAMP CO. (WM. MAURICE), Ltd. Jan. 10, 1951 [Feb. 10, 1950], No. 3488/50. Class 53. An accumulator is provided with a chamber 6 above a partition 5 in which are openings 9 leading to the individual cells. The chamber 6 is filled with electrolyte which enters all the cells simultaneously. Each cell is provided with a gas vent 10 which extends to within a short distance from the cover 11 of the chamber 6. The cover is provided with a filling opening which is normally closed by a stopper having a gas vent fitted with an escape valve. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the filling chamber 14 is formed on the side wall of the accumulator casing and communicates with the cells through openings 15 near the bottom of the chamber. Gases escape through openings 17 at the top of the chamber.
