693,547. Making flexible tubes. AUER, A. Nov. 14, 1949 [July 26, 1949], No. 30306/51. Divided out of 693,486. Class 83 (ii). [Also in Group XXVIII] A method of making continuous flexible gastight tubing comprises helically winding strip material about a mandrel and grooving the tubing as it is formed, thereafter spraying or extruding through a concentric annular orifice on to the inner surface of the tubing a continuous layer of covering material such as natural or synthetic rubber or a plastic to form a gas-tight lining. If the lining material is rubber it is subsequently vulcanized, and the necessary additional ingredients for this process may be supplied through a bore or bores of the mandrel.
