Abstract

693,494. Walls. HYGATE, S., and DURAFENCING, Ltd. June 1, 1950 [April 26, 1950], No. 10316/50. Class 20(iv) A stud and slab wall comprises hollow pillars built up of interengaging precast slabs united by a single locking collar or cap, vertical junction members being placed between the pillars when required, and precast wall slabs which are laid horizontally to extend between the pillars and junction members and held in place by cooperating mortises and tenons provided on the pillars or junction members and on the wall slabs. As shown, the wall pillars, which are each formed of two I-section slabs 11 and two rectangular section slabs 12, locked in a square section formation by a cap 16, are spaced apart along the length of the wall, intermediate members 17 being provided where the distance between pillars exceeds the length of the wall slabs. The member 17 and one of the pillar slabs 11 are provided with two rows of mortises which accommodate tenons provided on the ends of wall slabs 1, 3 and 4, a double wall which can be filled with earth being formed by the slabs; the horizontal edges of the slabs 1, 3 and 4 being shaped so that they engage one with the other. To form a single wall a pillar slab 12, with one row of mortise holes, is provided, which together with a vertically grooved post 19, forms the support for a single row of slabs 3.
