692,636. Sliding-clasp fasteners. JASTER, E. H. E. Nov. 10, 1950 [Jan. 2, 1950], No. 27549/50. Class 44 A sliding-clasp fastener comprises two parallel strips of elastically yieldable material having similar interengaging sections, each consisting of a body portion 3, 4 and spaced hook portions 5, 6, 7, 8 separated by recesses adapted to receive the hook portions of the other strip. The end face of the hook portion remote from the attaching strip 1, 2, is covered by a rib 3a, 4a on the other strip. The strips are united and separated by a slider having channels to fit the strips and arranged to distort the hook-section ribs 5, 6, 7 and 8 so that the strips may be pressed into mutual interengagement. The strips may be reinforced by embedded wires, threads or fibrous materials. Specification 659,970 is referred to.
