Abstract

692,254. Reciprocating pumps. NEW HYGIENE, Ltd. Sept. 2, 1949 [Aug. 6, 1948], No. 20871/48. Class 102 (i) [Also in Group XXIX] A sprayer of the pump type includes an upright cylinder 10, Fig. 2, carrying a threaded cap 21 for attaching the device to a liquid container, and a hollow piston 17 with a head i6 which is slidably arranged in the cylinder. A cap 25, with an integral ring-shaped operating handle 34, is secured to the upper end of the piston, and is recessed to receive a nozzle 30. The nozzle rear face contains radial grooves 32, Figs. 5 and 6, which communicate with the nozzle outlet 31 and with a circular concentric groove 27 in the base of the recess, which groove communicates, through a passage 28, with a chamber 29. A one-way ball valve 14 is arranged in the cylinder, and a spring 15 may be provided. A constriction 17a in the piston may retain a non-return valve. The cylinder, piston, and nozzle &c. are made of a synthetic organic plastic material.
