Abstract

692,215. Hollow rollers. RIGBY & MELLOR, Ltd., and RIGBY, A. Jan. 11, 1952 [Oct. 13, 1950], No. 24996/50. Class 34 (i) In a drying cylinder having an outer copper shell 1 and an inner alloy shell 3 to form an annular space confining the steam used as heating medium, and end plates 4, the shell 1 has a flange 2, the shell 3 has a flange 5 and the disc a flange 4c which flanges are secured together at each end of the cylinder by a single clamping ring 6 and screws 7. The inner shell 3 is ribbed or corrugated to strengthen it and the shells are supported by rings 8 between the shells, rings 9 supporting the inner shell and spacing webs 10 and radial arms 11 screwing into rings 12 and extending from a central shaft (not shown). Instead of overlapping the flanges 2, 5 may abut.
