Abstract
691,640. Picture &c. mounts. PAPIERFABRIK FLEISCHER GES. March 16, 1951. [March 18, 1950] No. 6363/51. Class 11. A method of producing pocket type corner mounts for photographs and stamps, comprises joining together two-webs of sheet material, e.g. paper, transparent cellulose foil, fabric, or the like, along one or more lines which correspond to the contour of the containers to be produced, and cutting out the containers along these lines, at least one of the webs comprising at least one surface of thermally-adhesive material whereby the webs are cemented together by the application of heat and pressure. As shown in Fig. 1 a web of suitable sheet material runs off a supply reel 3 and a second web 4 runs off a supply reel 6, the two webs passing together between two rollers 8 and 10. In one arrangement one or both of the rollers 8 and 10 may be heated and so profiled that the webs 1 and 4, are joined together along a zig-zag path 14, Fig. 2. The resulting double web 11 then passes between stamping tools 12, 13, where it is cut into individual mounting corners, or strips comprising a plurality of corners. In an alternative arrangement the corners are cut from the web simultaneously with the joining together of the two webs between the rollers 8 and 10, the rollers being provided with suitable cutting edges. In a further arrangement the rollers 8 and 10 are feed rollers and the webs are joined along the path 14 by means of heated stamping tools 12, 13, which may at the same time cut up the joined webs. The webs are thus continuously passed through rollers 8 and 10 but are intermittently joined by the stamping tools 12, 13 over an area which may include a plurality of mounting corners. The corners can be cut out along the line 15, or instead of being cut out completely may be scored or perforated. The two webs may be of unequal width. The lower part of the corner may be gummed for mounting photographs in an album, and can be wider than the top part.
