Abstract

690,962. Obtaining oscillatory-rotary motion. METAL SEAL & PRODUCTS, Inc. Dec. 18, 1950, No. 30835/50. Class 80 (i). A mechanism for obtaining rotary motion with periodic reversals of rotation, see Fig. 9, from a continuously-rotating shaft is mounted in a casing 10, 11, Fig; 2, and comprises a sun gear 22 keyed on a reduced portion of the input shaft 20, and two planet gears 32 carried by shafts 31 mounted in a rotatable crosshead 30. The planet shafts 31 each carry a crank disc 40 and a pinion. 35 engaging a fixed annular gear 37. Each crank disc has a crank pin 41, Fig. 5, connected by a link 42 to a pin 43 on a crosshead 44 secured to the output shaft 50. The crank arm 43-50 is longer than the arm 41- 31, and the tooth ratio between the gears 35, 37 is such that the reversals do not occur at the same point of rotation of the driven shaft for each revolution thereof.
