Abstract

A method of making extruded forms of an alloy containing magnesium and manganese comprises mixing a powdered alloy of magnesium and manganese containing from 0.5 per cent - 2.2 per cent manganese and up to 0.5 per cent calcium with a powdered alloy containing from 2 per cent-10 per cent aluminium, 0.5 per cent-4 per cent zinc, up to 1.4 per cent manganese and the balance magnesium, the mixture containing from 40-90 parts by weight per 100 of the first alloy and then extruding the mixed powder in heated condition.
