Abstract
690,768. Blades for rotary wing aircraft. DOMAN HELICOPTERS, INC. Jan. 18, 1951. [Feb. 28, 1950] No. 1441/51. Drawings to Specification. Class 4. [Also in Group XI] A rotor blade for a helicopter or the like comprises a spar, an aerodynamic body carried by the spar having a trailing edge, and tab means of non-metallic thermoplastic material secured to the trailing edge of the body for a substantial length thereof and projecting therefrom which can be made plastic at a relatively low temperature without stressing the material beyond its elastic limit in order to secure a fixed adjustment of the tab for the purpose of obtaining correct tracking of a plurality of such blades when attached to a rotor head. The tab may be made of a material which becomes plastic at a temperature of under 400 degrees centigrade and a hand tool (see Group XI) comprising a U-shaped member containing an electric heating unit may be fitted over the tab to raise it to the temperature at which it becomes plastic so that it may be bent by movement of the tool.
