Abstract
690,513. Flax-pulling machines. CLOVIS LETERME AND CO. Dec. 19, 1950 [July 6, 1950; Nov. 18, 1950], No. 30928/50. Class 6(iii) In a flax-pulling machine of the type having a number of units each comprising a belt 10 partially encircling a pair of pulleys, 1, 4, the pulled flax i ' s discharged into a transverse passage 16, common to all the units, along which passage it is impelled by teeth 5 on the rearmost pulley 4 of each unit. The foremost pulleys 1 are rubber-covered and are preceded by dividers 18. Jockey pulleys 6 on arms 9 pivoted to the machine frame complete the belt circuit and maintain belt-tension. The pulleys 4 are driven by bevel gears 11, from the ground wheels 19, 20. The discharged flax passes laterally to the ground or to a binder (not shown). The passage 16 is sinuous and progressively divergent and follows the pulley outlines. in a modification, the teeth 5 are periodically retractable into the pulleys 4 under cam-action so as to disengage the flax at the zones z of the passage.
