689,318. Automatic control systems for rotary inverters. ROTAX, Ltd. Dec. 19, 1950 [Dec. 23, 1949], No. 32929/49. Class 38 (iv). In a sytem for automatically maintaining constant the frequency of a rotary inverter or equivalent rotary machine the D.C. excitation of the machine is controlled by a saturable reactor having a pair of control windings each combined with a tuned circuit and supplied from the A.C. side of the machine through a rectifier, one tuned circuit being series resonant and the other being parallel resonant. As shown, the rotor of an inverter has a D.C. input winding a associated with field windings c, d and a three-phase output winding b associated with a field winding e. To stabilize frequency, control windings k, m of a magnetic amplifier controlling the energization of field winding d are energized through rectifiers w, t respectively in series with tuned circuits across the secondary of a transformer x supplied from the A.C. output. The tuned circuits, one of which, s, r, is series resonant, and the other, u, v, of which is parallel resonant, have variable inductances and are tuned to be resonant above the frequency it is desired to maintain. The A.C. winding h of the magnetic amplifier is supplied from the A.C. output in series with a rectifier energizing field winding d. To stabilize voltage, a rectifier g supplied from the A.G. output energises a winding f of a regulator associated with field winding e.
