Abstract

571,851. Automatic control systems for dynamo-electric machines. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Aug. 31, 1943, No. 14172. Convention date, Sept. 28, 1942. [Class 38 (iv)] Voltage.-The field of an exciter is controlled by the output voltage of an alternator which it excites through a transductor, or saturable inductance, having a direct current magnetization depending upon the difference between a quantity derived from the output voltage and a standard quantity. This component of the excitation is opposed to a self or independent excitation and preferably also by a further component derived from the alternator. As shown, the exciter field winding 3 has a main component of excitation derived from its armature, an adjustable auxiliary and substantially constant component in the same sense derived from bus-bars 1 of an alternator (not shown) excited by the armature 2 and a regulating component in the opposite sense derived through a transductor winding 9 from the bus-bars 1. The winding 9 has opposed direct current saturating windings 10, 11 which are balanced at a desired bus-bar voltage. The current in winding 10 varies with this voltage and the current in winding 11 is rendered constant, for example as in Specification 479,834. Rectifiers 4, 5 couple the auxiliary and regulating elements to the field circuit and are shunted by resistances 6, 7. The transductor may have a self-fed reaction winding 16. Amplifying transductors may be introduced before the rectifier 5 and anti-hunting means may consist, for example, of a winding on the transductor or constant current device influenced by the exciter voltage through an impulse transformer.
