Abstract

689,180. Pulse generating circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 12, 1950 [Dec. 31, 1949], No. 33462/49. Class 40 (vi). [Also in Group XXXV] In a system for maintaining a saw-tooth current of constant amplitude in a load of variable impedance, a condenser is charged and discharged repeatedly to supply the load and the voltage to which it is charged is varied by a direct voltage dependent on the amplitude of the saw-tooth current. To maintain constant the amplitude of sawtooth current in a scanning coil 7 which is associated with a television tube and is supplied, through a transformer 6, with the output of a time-base amplifier valve 5, the volt-drop across a resistor 8 in series with the coil is, after rectification by a negatively biased diode 11, applied to an amplifier 12 controlling the H.T. voltage applied to a resistance-condenser network 2, 4 forming, with a valve 1, a saw-tooth voltage generator which drives amplifier valve 5 and is triggered by positive voltage pulses, from an external source (not shown), applied to the grid of valve 1. Resistor 8 may alternatively be in the primary circuit of transformer 6.
