Abstract

707,774. Rectifying. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and FREEMAN, J. W. H Aug. 22, 1952 [Oct. 25, 1951], No. 25006/51. Class 38(2) A high voltage direct current power supply of the " flyback " type has an oscillatory voltage derived from the output of the circuit which voltage is applied to the input of the circuit so that current flows in the circuit for a time shorter than it would normally do so. A voltage is derived from the coil 6 which is inductively coupled to a choke 1 in the anode circuit of a generating valve 2, the voltage being rectified by a valve 7 and applied to a circuit having a resistor 8 and capacitor 9, this circuit having a time constant which is short compared with the period of the saw-tooth oscillation generated by a valve 3 and applied to the input of the valve 2. The waveforms of the two voltages applied to the input of the valve 2 are such that, together with the bias on the grid of this valve, current will flow in the valve 2 for a shorter interval during each cycle of the saw-tooth oscillation than would have been the case if the sawtooth oscillation alone was applied to the control grid of the valve.
