Abstract
1,021,671. Saw-tooth circuits. MARCONI CO. Ltd. July 31, 1962 [Nov. 27, 1961], No. 42303/61. Headings H3P and H3T. A saw-tooth current generator comprises a capacitor C, charged via the primary PT1 of transformer T1 and discharged via the primary PT2 of T2 under control of a valve, transistor or S.C.R. S, deflection coils at terminals O being coupled to the two windings. The resonance period of C with PT1 is many times the duration of the forward stroke, hence the voltage rise is substantially linear. C discharges via PT2 at the end of each sweep when S is pulsed, the resonance period being four times the flyback period, hence a quarter-cycle oscillation is produced, damped by diode D. K is charged during each flyback, providing a linearifying waveform across 2ST2 and a supply boosting voltage. The linearity is adjustable by R1 whilst K can be selected to compensate for cathode-ray tube geometry. An overcurrent relay RL protects the S.C.R.
