Abstract

689,048. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. KRUPP LOKOMOTIVFABRIK, F. March 23, 1950 [March 24, 1949 ; May 11, 1949; July 30, 1949 ; Sept. 5, 1949], No. 7297/50. Class 135 [Also in Group XXXI] Relates to a vehicle steering arrangement (see Group XXXI) in which the axles of a rail vehicle bogie are carried at each end by an eccentric ring element 9. The movement of the elements 9 are correlated so that the axles are arranged radial to a curve in the rails by each element carrying a sprocket, the sprockets on each side of the bogie being interconnected by a chain 34 so that movements of the chains in each bogie in opposite directions will cause them to move from their parallel positions into converging positions. This movement is caused by oil pressure on either side of pistons 40 connected by piston rods 39 to the chains 34. Oil pressure is generated in an accumulator (not shown) by a pump (not shown) driven by the bogie wheels, pressure to the piston 40 through a pressure conduit 48 and exhaust conduit 45 being controlled by a valve 44 which is connected to a rod 49, the end 50 of which is connected to a lever 51 connected at one end 52 to the eccentric ring 9 and the other end 53 by a rod 54 to the end 55 of an arm 56 depending from the vehicle frame. On movement of the bogie relative to the vehicle frame on the vehicle passing round a curve in the rails, the end 55 is displaced to 58, the end 53 to 59, and the end 50 to 60, thus opening the valve 44 and causing pressure to be admitted to the left-hand side of the piston 40. This pressure causes the eccentric ring 9 to move anticlockwise in Fig. 6, the end of the axle 7 to be displaced so as to lie radial to the rail curve, and the end 52 of the lever 51 to move to 62, thus returning the valve 44 to its original position.
