Abstract

688,869. Hydraulic motors. AMERICAN STEEL FOUNDRIES. Nov. 16, 1950, No. 28062/50. Class 69 (ii). A hydraulic motor comprises a ram 4 slidable in advance and pullback chambers 8, 10 respectively and a prefill valve 48 which opens and closes communication between the advance chamber and a liquid reservoir 20, the prefill valve being held open by the weight of the ram during the approach period of the advance stroke and being then closed by means responsive to the restriction of liquid from the pullback chamber. The operation of the motor is similar to that described with reference to Specification 678,999, except that at a predetermined point in the advance stroke air under pressure is admitted to a cylinder 82, by a manually-operated or automatically-operated valve 87 responsive to the position of the ram, to urge a piston 84 and plunger 88 downwardly whereby the fluted end 90 of the latter enters a pullback tube 16 to restrict the flow of liquid therefrom.
