Abstract

688,302. Pipe joint. MIAG VERTRIEBSGES. July 31, 1950 [Aug. 5, 1949], No. 19021/50. Class 99 (i). In an articulated joint for pipes or hoses 1 comprising three part-cylindriform members, namely inlet 2, outlet 3 and an intermediate member 5, and which are all located coaxially in one another so as to be relatively angularly displaceable in one plane, the inlet and outlet members 2 and 3 are arranged to be connected to the pipes, and the intermediate member 5 is provided with an opening 6 for the passage of material therethrough which opening is larger than the corresponding opening in the inlet member. The outlet 3, which is trough-shaped, has a part-cylindriform bearing rim 4 that engages the internal surface of member 5, which latter is angularly displaced by an extension 7 of pipe 1 or by means of gearing, not shown, between members 2 and/or 3 and member 5. A lip 11 on member 5 may both limit the displacement and act to drive member 5; a similar device may be provided on the outlet 3. A deflector plate 8 that may be pivoted is located opposite opening 6 and is accessible through a cover plate 10.
