Abstract

688,170. Variable pitch propellers. UNITED AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. Feb. 21, 1951. [April 8, 1950] No. 4214/51. Class 114. The hydraulic fluid for operating the pitch varying motors is contained in a reservoir 40 formed by members 34, 36 integral with and surrounding the blade sockets 32. The reservoir is closed by a plate 50 in which are carried main and auxiliary operating pumps, the control valve 90 and the pressure relief valve. Outside this plate, and enclosed by a plate 69 is a second, low pressure reservoir 68. The fluid supply to the pitch varying motors enters the blades through a transfer screw 170 as described in Specification 688,169. Pitch lock devices are fitted as described in Specifications 683,729 and 683,786.
