Abstract

687,989. Gas filters. HERSEY, H. J. Feb. 13, 1951. No. 3468/51. Class 8 (ii). A reverse jet cleaning device encircling a vertical flexible gas filter sleeve 10 Fig. 2 collecting dust on its inner surface, and movable along its length, comprises a plurality of separate hollow curved sections 44, 46 each having an orifice or slot 100 Fig. 3 (not shown) from which issues cleaning air, and each being independently urged into yielding engagement with the outer surface of the sleeve 10. Each jet section 44, 46 is floatingly supported at three points from a frame 22 by rubber rods 64 extending between upper and lower flange plates of the frame, and each section is pulled against the sleeve exterior by weights W at the end of cables 86, 92 passing over pulleys 88, 94. The frame 22 is reciprocated up and down the sleeve 10 either continuously or intermittently by an arm 20 linked by a chain 18 Fig. 1 and an arm 16 to a motor driven chain sprocket 14. T-sections 32, 34 guide the frame 22 which may be extended to accommodate a plurality of filter sleeves in parallel, and cleaning air is supplied to the sections 44, 46 through flexible ducts 102.
