Abstract
687,844. Roof-lights. BRITISH ALUMINIUM CO., Ltd. Feb. 7, 1950 [Feb. 7, 1949], No. 3373/49. Class 20(iii) A roof-light structure for use with roofing sheets of standard size is formed of elements secured together to form a unit of the same size as the standard sheet. One of these elements 1, about two-thirds the length and somewhat more than half the width of the standard sheet, has a plane area 10 having an opening 12 bounded by a collecting channel 14 which communicates with discharge channels 16 leading on to the face of the element. The element is corrugated or formed with channels and the plane area 10 is on the level of the crests, the bases 7a of the channels or corrugations 5 rising up and diverging to meet the crests where they merge with the plane surface. A second element 2 having a plane portion 18 and an open-ended aperture 20 and of the same length and width as the element 1 is overlapped with that element and secured thereto so as to form an assembly of standard length and to form a frame for the glass which is slid and secured between the two elements. The width of the unit is made up to the standard width by side pieces of standard length secured to the edges of the assembly 1, 2.
