687,727. Erecting buildings; roofs; joining structural members. NEEL, E., GEAR, A. M., and THOMAS, R. [trading as ARCON]. Dec. 11, 1950 [May 1, 1950], No. 10641/50. Classes 20(i), 20(ii) and 20(iv) A method of building construction comprises erecting a roof from prefabricated elements, covering the roof with sheet material, e.g. asbestos 10, and subsequently erecting the walls 12. The elements include trusses 2, tubular metal purlins 4 and stanchions 1, and the walls, which are of conventional form, may be of mud or adobe and do not support the roof. The roof framework is first built up on the stanchions 1, and then, after covering. provides shelter during erection of the walls. The roof has an inner part 8 and an outer 9, the inner stopping short substantially at the stanchions 1 near which the walls 12 are built, whilst the upper part 9 overhangs the row of stanchions 1. The purlins 4 may be in sections joined endwise, see Fig. 3, and attached to the trusses 2 by means of vertical flanges 5 thereon drilled to receive a stud 6 in the end of one purlin section, the stud 6 threading in a hole in the end of the adjacent section.
