Abstract

687,230. Rotary saws. SUPER-CUT, Inc. March 5, 1951 [April 21, 1950], No. 5326/51. Class 60. In a rotary saw for cutting stone and like hard material comprising a drive shaft and a saw -body between a pair of cup-shaped collars, the saw body is. a solid circular metallic body of diameter greater than the collars and with a cutting rim of greater width than the adjacent body, the part of the saw body engaging the collars being of unitform thickness at least twice that of the outer portion of the body. As shown, a drive shaft 5 has two oppositely facing cup-shaped collars 6, 7 with a saw body 4 between them, the assembly being held together by a nut 8. The saw body has a thickened portion 12 on one side slightly larger in diameter than the collars. The remaining part 9 of the body is thin and has a thicker cutting rim 10, which may be of crushed diamond in a metallic matrix, on.the edge. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the central thickening may be equally disposed on either side of the body.
