Abstract
<PICT:0687118/IV (c)/1> Absorbent webs, more particularly of raw paste-board, are impregnated by spraying the web with an impregnating material several times in succession on one side, the process being characterized in that the web is sprayed on the opposite side with the same or another impregnating material during or immediately after the said former spraying. The web of pasteboard 1 passes to a drying device 13 where it passes in zig-zag fashion over guide rollers 2 and subjected to heated gases issuing from tubes 3. It then passes to a spraying device where it passes over guide-rollers 14 and is sprayed first on the one side with impregnating material from tubes 15 and then on the other side from tubes 16. Excess impregnating mass is removed by the stripping rollers 22.
