Abstract

A method of applying a plurality of coatings <FORM:0929905/IV(a)/1> to a moving web comprises applying to the web a first liquid coating layer and then whilst this layer is still wet applying in superposition thereon a liquid coating layer which is in the form of a plurality of laminae. In the form of apparatus shown web 1 travels over rolls 2 and 3. At 2 a coating of emulsion A is applied and at 3 a double lamina coating B, C is applied. Coating A remains wet and unset at roll 3 and the whole applied wet coatings are subsequently set and dried in known manner.
