Abstract

686.918. Picking-motions. SOC. ITALIANA E. BREDA PER CONSTRUZIONI MECCANICHE. July 6, 1950 [July 7, 1949], No. 16894/50. Class 142(iii) A pneumatic picking motion comprises a picker mounted on the outside of a sleeve which slides on a fixed piston having inlet and exhaust ports. The picker 25 is formed as an extension of a sleeve 18 which slides along a fixed piston formed of the parts 3, 4, 5. The members 4, 5 are rotatable by means of members 12, 13, 14 and are moved to bring one of two sets of ports in the member 4 into alignment with ports in the member 3. One set of ports allows compressed air from a pipe 9 to flow into the space between the member 3 and the end of the sleeve 18. The other set of ports allows the air to escape through the hollow member 5 to a tank. A stop 28 checks the sleeve 18 at the end of the picking stroke. A buffer 31 checks the returnning shuttle by compressing the air in the housing 30. A hole 33 allows the air to escape and a light spring 32 returns the buffer to its normal position.
