Abstract
686,657. Disc mills. REISTEN, W. Oct. 30, 1951 [Dec. 31, 19481, No. 25327/51. Class 59 In a mill for continuously grinding fibrous substances e.g. paper pulp, wood fibre pulp, cellulose, having a plurality of pairs of grinding dicss 5, 8; 6, 9; 7; 10, Fig. 1, successively traversed by the material, the material outlet 18 is in communication with the material inlet 19 in such a way that the main mass of the material flows through the pairs of discs in a repeated cycle and part of the material, corresponding to the quantity of material continuously supplied to the mill from a channel 25, Fig. 2, is constantly discharged from the outlet 38. A rotatable blade wheel 17 is disposed in the outlet 18 which is connected to the inlet 19 by means of a rotary conveyer worm 21. The discs 5, 6, 7 are stationary and the discs 8, 9, 10 are mounted on a rotatable shaft 11. The discs 8, 9, 10 are provided with radial openings 33, blades 34, and segments 35, and the discs 5, 6, 7 with radial openings 36, Fig. 4, and segments 37. The end of the shaft 11 is connected by means of a coupling 31, with a piston 29 movable in a hydraulic cylinder 28 so as to control the pressure on the rotatable grinding discs.
