An attachment for disinfecting the mouthpiece of a telephone comprises a sterilized pad fitted into a box container, the whole being attached to the base of a telephone set by means of a spring or by rivets and the like so that when the receiver is in the rest position the mouthpiece comes into contact with the sterilized pad so receiving the fumes of disinfectant with which the pad has been impregnated. Alternatively the box container may be formed integrally with the base of the set.
