Class 40 (4) A disinfecting attachment for a telephone instrument comprises a perforated rubber container 3 which blows into the mouthpiece a mixture of air and disinfectant vapour when the instrument is placed on its stand with the rim 5 of the mouthpiece in contact with the container. A volatile disinfectant in either powder or liquid form is stored in a perforated box 8 within the container 3. The base 1 is formed as or has attached to it a suction pad which may be used either with or without adhesive. A metal or other rigid ring or arcuate member 12 supports the container. In a modification, Fig. 5, the base is formed integrally with a cup-shaped part 2a of the container. The perforated top part 3a is secured to the bottom part 2a by a quick thread connection and the disinfectant box 8a is secured to the underface of 3e. The cover 3a may be provided with a removable plug (not shown) to facilitate recharging of the box 8a.
