686,287. Winches for hauling wagons. STAHL, P. R., and STAHL, C. R. Feb. 20, 1951. [Feb. 20, 1950] No. 4155/51. Class 78 (v). A winch 8 is provided with jaws 12, 13 for securing it to a railway line. As shown, the winch is driven manually by crank 4 through gears 6, 9, the winch casing 1 being extended by parts 10, 11 which embrace extensions 20, 21 of the jaws 12, 13, there being provided bolt 15 in the casing which works in slots 14 formed in the jaws so that the latter may be extended to open and engage the rail and may be contracted to close and loosely secure the rail.
