685,562. Vacuum-jacketed vessels. BRITISH VACUUM FLASK CO., Ltd., HASSID, M.A., and VENIS, E. March 8, 1951 [March 21, 1950], No. 7012/50. Class 64 (ii) The inner container 4 of a vacuum flask or jug is introduced through the flanged bottom opening of a moulded casing 1 and a sealing flange, e.g. a rubber ring 5, resting on a shoulder of the inner container, underlies a flange 2 of the top opening. Moreover, an annular diaphragm 9, supported on a resilient ring 8 located between a flange 11 on the diaphragm and the bottom casing flange 3, carries a screw-threaded plug 12. Tightening of this plug in the diaphragm compresses the sealing rings 5, 8 and the latter fills the space between the diaphragm edge and the casing wall. so that the space between the container and the wall could be put under vacuum. The jug casing 1 shown may be of china and the plug 12 and diaphragm 9 of different synthetic resins. The Provisional Specification describes also a flexible closure disc which is snapped into position and has an integral, upstanding flange contacting the bottom of the inner container.
