Abstract
685,503. Supporting cables. NECK, C. G., and GRANBORG, S. C. March 19, 1951 [Jan. 23, 1951], No. 6561/51. Class 36. [Also in Group XXXII] A vibration damper comprises a plurality of ring weights substantially coaxiallyarranged and interspaced by means of cushioning bodies of elastic material and further comprises a weight-supporting bolt extending centrally through the weight assembly and adapted to be attached to a power cable, the elastic cushions being spaced apart from the bolt so as not to engage the same in any position of the weights relatively to the bolt during operation. In the arrangement shown, ring weights 1, preferably of cast iron, are arranged one above the other on a bolt 6 with the interposition of rubber or the like rings 2-4 having an inner diameter d greater than the inner diameter D of the weights. Each ring 2-4 is received in a recess 9 in the upper adjacent ring 1. The rings 2-4 may be of unequal thickness. The rod 6 is attached to a cable 8, the movement of which is to be damped, by means of a clamp 7. The damper may comprise a single ring weight supported on the bolt through a single rubber member.
